Aging in America- Our Heritage of Wisdom
a series of thirty-six pencil drawings by artist jim branscum

Florida Health Care Association:

The Florida Health Care Association is a Sponsor of the AIA project.  The association has brought me to two FHCA Conventions ('96 & '98) and sponsored a 1996 AIA exhibit in the Florida State Capitol in Tallahassee.  In addition,   the association has created a permanent traveling exhibition of the AIA project which is being exhibited in Florida County complexes and major airports throughout the state.  The display has received a high level of public interest,  praise and media coverage.  One visitor to the association's traveling AIA exhibit,   when displayed at the Tallahassee Airport,  was Florida's Secretary of Elder Affairs,  Bentley Lipscomb

After seeing the FHCA display of the AIA drawings,  Secretary Lipscomb contacted me and asked permission to use six AIA drawings in a presentation during his annual State of Elder Affairs Address.  The address was given at another venue in Orlando,   August 13, 1998.   At the same time,  I was at the Coronado Springs Resort Exhibition a few miles away.   I was both surprised and honored by Secretary Lipscomb coming to my exhibition and allowing me to have my picture taken with him.  He also gave me a transcription of his 1998 Annual Address which I will place on this site ASAP.

Florida Health Care Association 1998 Convention Exhibition:   August 10 -14,  1998
Coronado Springs Resort,  Orlando,  Florida.

The Coronado Springs Resort exhibition was the third Florida exhibition of the AIA original drawings sponsored by the Florida Health Care Association.  The art work was exhibited in the convention area of the resort and was visited by many FHCA members as well as Coronado Springs Resort guests.  Being Disney's newest resort in Orlando,   the accommodations were excellent and the visitors to the exhibition almost continuous from the opening to closing.

1999 Disney Exhibition:

While at the Coronado Springs Resort,  a number of Disney employees in executive positions questioned me about extending my stay for two weeks.  The discussions then developed into extending the event to a full month in early 1999.  Gerry Baker  is creating an educational program for Disney cast members and employees and will focus on the special needs of the elderly and other realities of aging.  I will remain with the art exhibit and talk about the models and the AIA project to park visitors.  We are continuing discussions with Disney Corp.  I'll keep you posted on the progress of the talks and the date of the exhibition once it has been established.
